of Race

EVENT
1.1 The 2007 RS:X SOUTH AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIP will be held from February 13
to

event will be based at Buzios Vela Clube, Manguinhos,Buzios.
3.2 Conditions to be expected -
East, from 10 to 35 knots.
4. RULES
4.1 Event wil
be governed by:
4.1.1 The 2005-2008 Racing
Rules of Sailing (RRS), and Appendix B - Windsurfing;
4.1.2 The RS:X
Class Rules & Standard Championship Sailing Instructions; and
4.1.3 This Notice of Race (NoR) & the Local Regatta Sailing Instructions (SIs).
4.1.4 The medal race will be
replaced by a normal fleet race in any division with less than 20 entries
4.1.5 Alterations to the SIs must be approved by the Class's Race Supervisor.
5. ELIGIBILITY
& DISCIPLINE
5.1 All
entries shall meet the requirements of ISAF Regulation 19 – Eligibility Code.
5.2 A minimum of 3 races is
required for a valid Championship.
5.3
Competitors shall be a member
of their national class association who shall be paid any
fees due to the RS:X Class Association
before the first race.
5.4 Class
Membership formalities can be completed on site.
5.5 Entries
may be subject to the agreement of the relevant national authority

CLASS
6.1 RS:X.
6.2 All
divisions may race together depending on entry numbers
7. DIVISIONS
7.1 A
competitor shall have reached the minimum age limit in the relevant division by
7.2 Gender:
Men (A); Women (B).
7.3 Age:
Youth Men (C); Youth Women (D); Masters Men (E); Masters Women (F). There
may be separate prizes for Grand
Masters and veterans
7.3.1 A
youth shall be under the age of 19 (born in or after 1989 and not later than
1995).
7.3.2
A Master is a man who has reached the age of 35 (1971 >) or a woman
who has
reached the age of 30 (1976
>)
7.3.3 A
Grand Master is a man who has reached the age of 45 (1961 >) or a woman who
has
reached the age of 40 (1966
>)
7.3.4 A
Veteran is a man who has reached the age of 55 (1951 >) or a woman who has
reached the age of 50 (1956
>)
8. EQUIPMENT
8.1 All
competitors shall bring their own equipment.
9.
EQUIPMENT INSPECTION
9.1 It is the responsibility
of each competitor to ensure that his/her board and equipment conforms to the
Class Rules.
9.2 Equipment checks may be
made throughout the event
9.3 Competitors shall be on
site for registration and equipment inspection by 1000hrs on

INSIGNIAS
10.1 National letters &
sail numbers and division identification shall comply with Class Rule 9.2
11. BUOYANCY
11.1 If personal buoyancy is
prescribed, each competitor & support boat crewmember shall
wear, above the waist, a jacket, harness, or
vest with a minimum buoyancy of 4kg
uninflated, in fresh
water. The buoyancy shall be tested with a ferrous metal weight of
4kg, which shall remain supported for a minimum of 5 minutes.
11.1
Personal buoyancy is
mandatory for competitors under the age of 17.
12. LIABILITY
12.1 Competitors take part in
all races at their own risk. The ISAF, the International RS:X
Class Association, the LOA, or any of their officials or representatives or the
sponsors or their officials or representatives are not responsible, under any
circumstances, for any damage, loss or injury either ashore or on the water
either to persons or equipment, which may result. Participation in this event,
supporting events and in each race in them is at the sole discretion of the
sailor and at his/her own risk.
12.2 All competitors,
officials and media will be required to sign a 'Port Police Waiver of
Responsibility'.
13. COURSES
13.1 Courses shall be as
prescribed in the Standard Championship Sailing Instructions.
14. SCORING
14.1 The
RRS low points scoring system shall apply.
15. INTERNATIONAL
JURY
15.1 An International Jury will
be appointed in accordance with the RRS 70.4. Their decisions will be final and
cannot be appealed.
16. SAILING
INSTRUCTIONS (SI)/EVENT PROGRAMME
16.1 The 'Standard Championship
Sailing Instructions and the Local Regatta Sailing Instructions will be
available at registration, as will the Event Programme scheduling social
events.
17. COACHES
17.1
Coaches shall comply with SCSI 22 and may bring their own boats to support
competitors. If you propose to
bring your own, please advise the local organisers in advance.
17.2 Coaches
shall wear buoyancy aids when the "Y" flag is flown.

19.
MEDALS AND PRIZES
19.1 Medals or trophies may be
awarded up to the first five competitors in the Championship, including Female,
Youth and Masters, depending on entry numbers.
19.2 A Notice shall be posted
on close of registration stating the divisions established and the number of
medals or trophies to be awarded
20. DRUG
TESTING
20.1 Competitors are reminded
of the ISAF rules and regulations concerning the use of banned methods and
substances. Drug testing may take place during the event.
21. TELEVISION
AND MEDIA
21.1 In registering for the
event, competitors automatically grant to the Organising Authority the right in
perpetuity to make, use and show from time to time at their discretion, any
motion pictures, still pictures and live, taped or filmed television and other
reproduction of them, taken during the period of the event, for the said
Championship as defined in the Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions in which
he/she participates without compensation.
22.
BIBS/VESTS & COMPETITORS SAIL
BRANDING.
22.1 During racing, competitors
may be required by the organisers to wear bibs/vests
carrying the event sponsors' branding; and carry the event sponsor's
advertising on their sails. The maximum size of the event-advertising sticker
is SOOmmXlOOOmm. The stickers may not be cut or
trimmed in any way.
23.
DRESS CODE
23.1 Smart
casual clothes shall be worn for the Opening Ceremony and Prize Giving Ceremony.
24.

24.2 The LOA has set aside low
priced air conditioned accommodation for South American competitors.

paid on site in cash in Euros , US$ or R$(Brazilian Reais). Entry fee
must be paid in Regatta office on Feb 11 or 12, and will cost
