Samsung European Freestyle Jam, Twins Club Bredene 2nd
– 5th August 2006
Day1:
After the very hot july
summer period all over
Most of the EFPT Riders just
come back from Canary Island Fuerteventura, so the ladder was leaded by Andre
Paskowski (F2/North Sails), Norman Günzlein (JP/NP) and Andreas Olanderson
(JP/NP).
In the very wavy conditions
at Twins Club Bredene it was Norman Günzlein (JP/NP) who made his way to final
elimination Fabrice Devos (JP/NP), Jakub Kosmowski (Tabou/Gaastra) and his
teammate Andreas Olanderson (JP/NP) in the semi final.
Andre Paskowski, who is one
of the leaders of the overall 06 ranking, made his way through the single
elimination, kicking the bud of young Belgium rider Caers J., as well as Tine
Slabe (F2/Naish) and Matteo Guazzoni (RRD/Simmer Style).
In the final
In the losers final between
Andreas Olanderson (JP/NP) and Matteo Guazzoni (RRD/Simmer Style) it was
Andreas (JP/NP) who impressed the judges. He also showed a very high standard
and a nice combination of freestyle and wave sailing.
With Devos (JP/NP), Caers J.
and Van de Ven we find the best
For the next days the
forecast promises the strong winds to continue, so for tomorrow the jury

Day2:
After a very
heavy storm during the night the wind did not reach sailable conditions till
4.00 pm. After a heavy rain the wind kicked in with 45 knots from North/West.
The jury started the double elimination to see some very good action, but
unfortunatelly the wind turned to 90 degree onshore, which makes it impossible
to run a competition on the
The main reason why the jury decided to stop the competition are heavy rocky
wave breakers in the water which are not able to be seen at this onshore
windconditions.
For tomorrow the forecast still says 20 knots of NNW winds which means side
onshore starboard tack.
After this
heavy conditions today everybody is more than motivated to show some extra
outstanding freestyle in very challenging conditions at the
Day3:
The strong
winds continued to blow all through the night and caused also some problems on
cost line of
But at 10.00 at
the skippersmeeting the wind dropped a bit and also changed the direction more
towards north so the jury decided to start the double elimination at 11.00 am.
The first heat
was between the young French rider Mereaud and Petrisie (Exocet/Loft). The experience of the caribean rider Petrisie
helped him to pass this first round in the again very challenging conditions at
the Twins Club – Bredene. This victory encouraged Ruben Petrisie (Exocet /
Loft) in his next heats against Filo Buratti (Fanatic/North Sails) and Fede La
Croce (Naish) so that he finished the double elimination in 6th
position.
But there was
no doubt for all the people on the
It was the
Swedish rider Andreas Olanderson (JP/NP) who stopped the run of Andrea (RRD/NP)
in the battle for the 4th position. In spite of very heave
conditions the guys were able to manage even the most difficult freestyle moves
like Funnel, Switch Chacco, Puneta.
Motivated by
his victory against Andrea Rosati (RRD/NP), Andreas Olanderson (JP/NP) was on
fire to fight against Andre Paskowski (F2/North Sails) for the 2nd position. It was a very hard fight and also a
very close decision but the little bit more solid performance of Andreas
(JP/NP) in the Waves of Bredene Beach convinced the judges to give the victory
to Andreas (JP/NP), so he moved on to face Norman Günzlein (JP/NP) in the
final.
At the beginning
of the heat it seems that Andreas (JP/NP) is able to do the big surprise, but
the longer the heat continued the performance of Norman (JP/NP) increased a lot
and a run of solid hardcore freestyle moves like one handed E-slider, Flaka,
Clew first spock into E-slider combination as well as massive forward loops
have been arguments enough to take the title of the double elimination.

double elimination:
